Channel of Bydgoszcz

The Canal of Bydgoszcz (in Polish Kanał Bydgoski , in German Bromberger Kanal ) is an artificial waterway connecting the basins of the the Vistula and the Oder. The channel establishes the link between the Brda (affluent of the the Vistula) and the Noteć (affluent of the Warta, itself flow of the Oder). It starts from Bydgoszcz and goes until Nakło nad Notecią. It has length a 24,7 km and is equipped with 6 lock S. Its Gabarit is of 400 ton S.

Although the project existed before the division of Poland, the channel was built only 1772 with 1775, on the initiative of the King of Prussia Frederic II Large the. With the channel of Finow and the channel of Plauen it was the third great project of construction of channel concluded during its reign.
