Channel of Ajim

The channel of Ajim was formed at the place where the island of Jerba separated from the continent following the collapse of the Falaise S a million years ago.

The width of the channel is of 2500 m and its depth is of less than 16 meters.

The port of Ajim is the main port of the island in front of that of Houmt Souk. It was formerly very famous for the fishing with the sponges.
