Channel Pereira Barreto

The Channel Pereira Barreto , located close to the city Brazil ienne of Pereira Barreto, in the State de São Paulo, is a navigable channel, 9.600 meters length which Very connects the lake of the Barrage of Irmãos, on the Rio Tietê, to Rio São Jose back Dourados, flow from left bank of the Rio Paraná, and thus with the tank of the Barrage of Ilha Solteira. Its utility is double:

  • On the one hand it facilitates the operations of electrical production, optimizing the flows of the two power stations corresponding to two reserves.
  • In addition it allows an inland waterway between the sectors upstream and downstream of Paraná, which would be isolated one from the other, because of absence of lock the level of the lake of the Barrage of Ilha Solteira. It suffices indeed for a boat going up Paraná (since the lake to the Barrage to Jupiá to move towards the Barrage of Very Irmãos, to use the lock which was envisaged there, then arrived in the lake of reserve of the known as stopping, to borrow the channel, which will carry out it on the lake of the Barrage of Ilha Solteira, that it could not cross directly for lack of lock.
