Changuito (of its true name Jose Luís Quintana ), born the January 18th 1948, is a cuban Percussionniste. Changuito largely made evolved/moved the technique of the play of the " timbal es". In 1970 it started to play with Los Van Van with which it developed the Songo, rate/rhythm which constitutes a modernized approach of the sound montuno, mainly through a play between the drinking cups (which employ a Grosse case, sometimes a clear Caisse and a Tom low) and the congas. The songo, is much more than one simple pattern rhythmic, it includes/understands many variations in the play of the Congas and the drinking cups and influence the dynamics of all the rhythm section. Changuito was characterized by its virtuosity and its creativity and is regarded today as one of largest the Percussionniste S in the world.
