Changed (the Sarthe)

Geography

Changed is to 7 km in the east of Mans, a long time with the variation of the main roads of circulation kept a certain rural character. One counts there 91 more farms and market-gardening (but less than 10 are declared principal activity of the manager).

In the center of the 3.505 hectares of the commune, the borough gathers almost all the trade of proximity and many craftsmen. Out of the borough along the RN 23, the 3 artisanal zones of Ravalières, Perquoi and recently of Chenardière (bought by Intercommunalité of the South-east of the Country manceau) gather about fifty dynamic companies.

The doubling of the deviation of the road of Paris - Angers by the east of Mans and the nearest passage of the highway Calais-Bayonne put Changé at the center of the road junctions of the mancelle area.

History

Traces of human occupation are attested as of the Roman epoch on the territory of the commune, but it is necessary to wait the Carolingian time so that the name of Changed (Cangiacus, Changeium, Changium justa cenomanium) appears on the old parchments of the departmental records. For its oldest parts, the church, dedicated to St Martin, date of the 11th century. The transepts were built in XVe and it was increased with XVIIIe. Since the storm of August 10th, 1893, the bell-tower had lost its slim arrow and the commune had not had the means of rebuilding it in state. August 8th, 1944, it exploded under an American shell. It is not that in 1950, qu' it was completely restored.
