Chanel
The House Chanel , more known under the name of Chanel , is a house of French Haute couture founded by Gabrielle Bonheur " Coco" Chanel (1883 - 1971). The company belongs to Alain Wertheimer and Gerard Wertheimer, the grandsons of associated of Coco Chanel, Pierre Wertheimer.
History and Traditions of the house
The first steps of the Chanel house were done with acquisition by Coco Chanel of a shop with Deauville in 1913 and of another with Biarritz in 1915. In 1918, the Parisian shop of Chanel increases with 31 rue Cambon where it had also its apartment. The house became particularly famous for its elegant Petite black dress, its tailor in tweed, and its perfume emblematic N°5 conceived in 1921. Ernest Beaux continued to create perfumes for Chanel, whose N°22 (1922), Cuir of Russia (1927), Gardenia (1925), and Exotic wood (1926), all were given on sale as from 1986.Chanel took part in the revolution of the Haute couture by replacing the traditional Corset by comfort and the elegance of simple tailors and dress S. the women distinguished from the high-company around the world then started to get dressed at Chanel. The Chanel House became a symbol of refinement and, since then, the name of Chanel is synonymous with elegance, richness, and elitism, as well as the sign of the coquettery, specific to the easy classes of the French company.
Inspired by clothing of her lovers and her desire of émanciper the woman, Coco Chanel introduces into her collections the Jersey, tweed, the buttons and the ganses of uniform, the cardigans, the jewels imagination, the pants for the women and the fashion of the short hair.
The success of the perfume N°5 , contributed to make known Chanel in the whole world. Chanel then took its districts with the Hôtel Ritz of Paris and its continuation was famous “Coco Chanel Continuation”.
Topicality
Currently, the creator of Chanel is Karl Lagerfeld. Since 1983, in the collections Haute couture and Ready-made clothes, it modernizes the style of CHANEL, elegant, pure, light, youthful and refined, with a very contemporary style.
