Jean-François Cussy , known as Champmêlé , is a actor and director of Théâtre French born with Secqueville-in-Bessin (Calvados) the October 28th 1745 and died with Brussels the July 9th 1806.
Lawyer with the Parliament of Paris, it seems to be entered the theatrical career in Normandy with the approach of about thirty, probably directing a small itinerant troop. He plays in any case Calais in 1774, then one finds it with Bordeaux in 1782. It then begins with the Comédie-Française the September 7th 1785 in Cid from Corneille and is probably not received.
Engaged with the Theater of the Currency of Brussels for the season 1786 - 1787, it plays the noble kings and fathers. In 1789, it marries an Inhabitant of Brussels who does not belong in the middle of the theater.
Called with the Theater-Italian of Paris, it begins there the October 25th 1791 in the False Magic from Marmontel and Grétry, and in Blaise and Babet of Monvel and Dezède.
Champmêlé directs then the Theater of the Currency in 1794 - 1795, then in 1798 - 1799 in partnership with Marc d' Oberny. There will remain actor until his death, with the greatest satisfaction of the public which appreciated it much.
