Championships of the world of swimming

The championships of the world of swimming created in 1973, were held at the origin out of basin of 50 meters, all the 2,3 or 4 years according to the international calendar. After one period of relative stability (1978-1998) at the time which the championships took place every four years, FINA decided to give broadth to its championships by programming them every two years (odd years).

Since 1993, there exist also championships of the world out of basin of 25 meters which proceed them also every two years, but the latter have still evil to find a true place in the international calendar.

The editions out of basin of 50 meters gather all the disciplines managed by FINA: swimming, Swimming out of interstitial water, synchronized Swimming, dive and Toilets sports shirt, while the editions out of basin of 25 meters relate to only tests of swimming.
