Championships of the world of karate 1996

The championships of the world of karate 1996 took place with Sun City, in South Africa, 1996. It was about the thirteenth edition of the Championnats of the world of karate senior and the first to propose an open female. On the whole, 643 Karaté kas coming from 72 countries of the world took part in the seventeen tests with the program.

On the whole, 64 medals were allotted to 19 different countries, and eights gain at least a gold medal. The the United Kingdom at the head finishes Tableau of the medals while the country host does not obtain any medal.
