Championship of the world of hockey 1959

The twenty-sixth championship of the world of Hockey and consequently occasion the thirty-seventh championship of Europe took place between the 5 and the March 15th 1959 in. The matches took place in the towns of Bratislava, Brno, Ostrava, Kladno, Mladá Boleslav, Kolín and Prague.

Context

Fifteen teams are with go for this new edition and thus a championship B called “Critérium Européen” takes place between three of these nations (as well as a team B of Czechoslovakian).

The tournament has consisted of a first phase with three hens at the conclusion which the two nations finishing at the head play one second hen for the gold medal. During this time, the teams finishing third and fourth of each hen are also brought together in a new hen for the seventh place.

The tournament knew a rather constant rate/rhythm with no nation remaining without defeat. That was also the first time that the two teams of hockey of Germany met with the necks of a championship of the world.

Tournament for the seventh place

There were three matches per day between the March 9th and 14th and each time a match had place with Kladno, another in Mladá Boleslav and the last with Kolín.

Even if the Czechoslovakian ones finish in the first place, since it was about a team B, Rumanian are crowned champions of the championship B.
