Championship of the world of female hockey 2007

The Championnat of the world of female hockey 2007 took place for the first division, the Monde group, between the 3 and the April 10th 2007 with Winnipeg and Selkirk, cities of the Manitoba in Canada. The other groups played earlier in April or March.

There was no edition 2006 because of the Winter Olympics of Turin. It is about the tenth edition of the tournament under the direction of the International federation of hockey (IIHF) and the matches proceeded in both skating rinks: MTS Centers and Selkirk Recreation Complex .

Following the success which had had the edition 2005 of the competition, the IIHF decided to widen the Monde group while passing from eight teams with nine nations. Thus, Russia which should have played this edition in division I preserves its team among the elite. In the same way, all the teams which should have gone down from a division kept their place and three new nations made their beginning in the competition.

Other divisions

Division I

Between the 2 and the April 8th took place with Nikkō in Japan, the matches of the teams of division I.

The Japan is promoted in the Monde group for the edition of 2008 while the Denmark will play in division II.

Division II

The six teams of division II played their matches with Pyongyang in North Korea between the 17 and the March 23rd.

The Slovakia will play in division I in 2008 while the Slovenia is retrogressed in division III.

Division III

The tournament of division III took place between the 5 and the March 10th in England with Sheffield.

The Australia will join division II in 2008 whereas the South Africa plays in last division, division IV.

Division IV

The matches of division IV took place between the March 26th and the 1 {{er}} April with Miercurea-Ciuc in Romania. The team of female Israel of hockey was to make her first matches in the tournament in division IV, but with final, at the time of the advertisement of the calendar by the federation, the team does not appear in the program.

At the conclusion of the tournament, it is the Croatia which will join higher division in 2008.
