Championship of Iceland of D2 football
1. deild karla is a championship of Icelandic football. It is about the second division of the Country. This championship was created in 1955.
The 1. deild karla passed from 10 to 12 clubs since the season 2007. The first two clubs of division are promoted in the first division, the two last are relegated in the third division.
In 2007, following the passage to 12 clubs of the Landsbankadeild (the first division), 3 teams were promoted at the conclusion of the championship.
