Championship of France of Rugby at XV 1999-2000

The Championship of France of Rugby to XV 1999 - 2000 is disputed by 24 teams divided into two hens during a preliminary phase. The first two teams of each hen are qualified for the quarterfinals like four teams resulting from matches of stopping. The matches of stopping are disputed by the teams classified of 3rd in the 6th place in each hen, the winners of the four matches of stopping are qualified for the quarterfinals.

The continuation of the competition is done by direct elimination in quarterfinals and semi-final.

The French Stade gains the Championnat of France of Rugby to XV of the first division 1999 - 2000 after having beaten the US Colomiers finally. It carries the Bouclier of Brennus for second time after 1945. The team of Colomiers loses the first final in which it takes part.

At the conclusion of the season 1999-2000 four teams are relegated in lower division: US Montauban, RC Nimes, RC Toulon and Racing club of France. Contrary, the ACE Béziers is promoted in the first division, which will change the number of clubs of the elite to 21

Group 2

Because of a cumulated deficit of 10 Franc million, the National league of Rugby decides the retrogradation of Rugby Toulon-native Club in the Second Division on July 24th, 2000. A match of stopping of maintenance is organized between Aurillac and the Racing club of France gained by Aurillac. Aurillac is thus maintained as a Pro D1.
