Championship of Europe of football 1992

It is about the 9th edition of the Championnat of Europe of football which is held every four years and is organized by UEFA (association gathering the national federations of Football of Europe).

This edition, organized by the Sweden between the June 10th and the June 26th 1992, was disputed by eight nations. All the teams, except for the Sweden (organizing country), had to dispute qualifications to take share with the final stage.

The France was eliminated as of the first turn (by the Sweden and the Denmark) in spite of a course of qualifications without fault (8 matches, 8 victories).

The Denmark gains with the general surprise a competition for which it was not qualified. Indeed, Denmark was fished out little time before the beginning of the tournament to mitigate the exclusion of the team of Yugoslavia due to war. Playing in a completely décomplexée way, also profiting from a certain amount of success, the Danes gain the Euro after having beaten successively the France, the Netherlands, and the Germany, is the three big favorites of the competition (and last three winners). To however note the absence among Danes of most famous of them: annoyed with its selector, Michael Laudrup had indeed declined the selection.

Hardly 6 months after the explosion of the Soviet Union, the players of from now on the ex-USSR play under the provisional banner of the CEI (Communauté of the independent States).
