Championship of Brazil of football 2000
Brazil 2000 - Copa João Havelange
At the end of the Championnat of Brazil of football 1999 Gama disputed in justice its relegation, caused by the decision of the sporting court to grant to Botafogo (Rio de Janeiro) and Internacional of the victories on São Paulo. Gama gained its recourse in front of the courts what caused the organization by the Club of the 13 of its own championship called the Cut João Havelange 2000. However the courts forced the Club of the 13 to admit Gama in this championship. the CBF which at the beginning had given up organizing the championship of Brazil of football 2000 decided to recognize this tournament although it did not comply with the rules of promotion and relegation of the championship 1999, and in which the distribution of the teams between the modules rested on criteria ever revealed. However Gama was included in the championship in spite of the decision of the FIFA prohibiting the teams from playing against Gama.

This championship was divided into 4 modules (Blue, Jaune, Vert and White) based on the popularity and the sporting past of the 114 participating clubs.
Modulate Bleu
The blue module gathered 25 participants including/understanding in addition to Gama,
- the 18 clubs of the first division on 22 which had not been relegated at the time of the season 1999 (of which the last Sport Club C Recife and before the last Portuguesa FC!! ) (see Championship of Brazil of football 1999)
- 2 promoted clubs coming from the second division Goiás EC. and Santa Cruz FC
- EC. Juventude which had been relegated however in the 2nd division
- EC. Bahia which had finished the 3rd second division
- América Futebol Clube (Belo Horizonte) eliminated into 1/4 from finale from the final stage from the 2nd division
- Fluminense FC champion from the 3rd division

January 13rd, 2001, CBF announced that São Caetano was promoted in the 1st division because of its successes in Copa Havelange.
