Championship of Belgium of cycling on road
The Championnat of Belgium of cycling on road was created in 1894 to designate the Champion of Belgium.
History of the championship
The championship was disputed every year since 1894 except: 1906,1915 to 1918 and 1944.
In the first editions there were calculations at the points on several races into 1912,1923,1924 and 1925.
Currently, the title is allotted on only one race.
In addition to his title, the Champion of Belgium gains the right to carry the distinctive shirt to the colors " black-yellow-red " during one year.
With four victories in 1997,1998,2002 and 2004, Tom Steels is the runner which gained this title generally all confused times. It precedes Rik Van Steenbergen which it had gained three times into 1943,1945 and 1954.
