Champions
Champions is a Roleplay of Superhéros created by George MacDonald and Steve Peterson, of the company Hero Games to represent and simulate conventions of the comic book S American.
The characters are built by distribution of points around a topic. There is no random in creation. It was the second roleplay to do that after Superhero 2044 and mechanics of Champions influenced Gurps.
It was the first play to use the Hero system , which was then declined in several universes (Fantasy Hero, Star Hero, International Danger,…).
The play has a very flexible framework of capacities, competences, advantages and disadvantages. As in band-drawn, it is easier to disappear or be struck to die.
Champions does not have the rights of characters of data base and gradually developed its own universe which imitates the characters of cd. Comics and Marvel Comics.
The first edition of 1981, is revised in 1982 then 1984 (but Champions II , 1982 and Champions III , 1984 are supplements, not new editions). The fourth edition in 1989 (Co-published with Iron Crown Enterprises) was the first attempt to separate the Hero system from the superhéroïque context to make of Hero system a generic play which would compete with Gurps (the universe was also modified because certain characters had been sold with a company comics).
There was then another version of the play, Champions New Millenium with the system of Fuzion (which is a mixture of Hero and Interlink, the system of Cyberpunk).
The current edition (2002, 5th) returned in Hero System, by again modifying the universe of the 4th edition.
