Champion eternal
The Champion eternal is a creation of the author Michael Moorcock and is a recurring characteristic of many of its novels. The most famous incarnation undoubtedly of the Champion eternal is Elric de Melniboné.

The Champion within the multivers
On each plan of the million spheres of the Multivers, there exists an incarnation of the Champion eternal who, deliberately or not, is the guard of the cosmic Balance. Each incarnation of the Champion eternal is torn by the doubt, fear, and often the culpability. Sometimes, he seeks a higher being which orders the whimsical gods of the law and of the chaos. Often, he remembers other incarnations. More often, it does not have any memory of its other misadventures or sees them only in worrying dreams. The Champion realizes of his real identity when the irrefutable proof is offered to him.
Le compagnon
The Champion is seldom alone, it has as a practice to be accompanied by an incarnation of his companion, in general a superstitious dandy. This comrade is itself a large warrior, and knows sometimes a little the magic. Sometimes the companion can remember old or future lives, but usually it is as ignorant as the champion himself of the universe which surrounds it. The unhappy fate of the companion is simpler than that of the Champion, its goal is to help it and the adviser, and although he often dies in with dimensions of the champion, it is a friend, a truth.
The loved being
The Champion is in love with one of the incarnations of his perennial love. Sometimes, during its life, it has two beings loved (such as Rhalina and Medhbh liked of Corum, or Cymoril and Zarozinia affectionate by Elric), but second is found only after the first is lost. This loved being is condemned by its love for the Champion and, like the companion, it is often indirect victim of the Champion eternal.According to the time or the plan given, there can be a Champion, a loved being, and to four companions.
