Champagnac - la-Noaille ( Champanhac-la-Noalha in occitan) is a common French, located in the department of the Corrèze and the area the Limousin.
Its inhabitants is called Champagnacois and Champagnacoises.
Revolutionary names: Champagnac-the-Mountain and Champagne-the-Doustre

Geography

History

Champagnac-la-Noaille
De Campanius-acum: field of Campanius, owner of the Gallo-Roman villa. The Gallo-Roman origin is confirmed by archeology: vestiges in Fontanelles, Sévezergue, the Dead Woman and Vialatte-Low. The name of Champagnac-la-Noaille draws its nickname (Noaille) from the seigniory which it locked up within its limits.
Pendant the Revolution, it bore the name of Champagnac-le-Doustre, the name of the river which crosses it: Noaille evoked the feudal system which had just been abolished.
