Geography

The village of Chambonas is located at the periphery of the Vans, with 2km. The commune has of a particularly favorable situation and an exceptional historical heritage. Village with agricultural vocation, the current economy rests especially on tourism and its proximity with the city of Vans.

The inhabitants of the commune are concentrated around the principal borough with its church and its castle but also in the many dispersed hamlets of the commune (Marvignes, Vompdes, the Bridge, Vignal, Sielves, Sielvettes, Evescat, Montmajour, Banns, Champval, the Houses, Coussillon, Puech, Fontgranier, Verlegas…)

  • Romance Church of the 12th century: single nave, Apse in Bottom of furnace, carved plank external
  • Beautiful castle of the 13th century, 17th century and 18th century: interior with Italian decoration, large staircase, Italian living room and large living room, small living room in a tower, furniture, gardens with the Frenchwoman drawn by Ours (or, more probably, by its pupils)
  • the bridge built at the 13th century by the monks of Saint-Gilles, was destroyed and rebuilt at the 16th century, damaged during the bombardments in 1944, rebuilt since.
