the Chamber orchestra of Lausanne is a Orchestre of international repute based with Lausanne (Suisse).
History
Founded in 1942 by the violonist and leader Victor Desarzens, the formation is directed as of the first years by big bosses: Otto Ackermann, Ernest Ansermet, Ernst Bour, Paul Hindemith, Frank Martin, etc…Christian Zacharias is named artistic director and titular chief as from season 2000/01. In January 2007, Christian Zacharias is elected Artiste of the year by MIDEM of Cannes.
The manpower of forty musicians allows to approach a very rich repertory covering nearly four centuries of music, of the baroque to the contemporary . During its season 2007/2008, the orchestra accommodates Thomas Demenga as a type-setter in residence, a first among the Swiss orchestras.
The Radio French-speaking Switzerland, partner of the Chamber orchestra of Lausanne, records the majority of the activities. All the concerts of subscriptions and many other concerts are diffused in streaming live on Espace2 Official site.

Discography
Nearly 250 recordings were realized under the direction of the various artistic directors of the orchestra. The recordings with Christian Zacharias in the capacity of chief and pianist recover works of Mozart, Robert Schumann, Michael Haydn (Requiem) and Frederic Chopin (concertos for piano).
