Chambelève
Chambelève is a locality, located on the commune of Vernet-the-Game preserve, in the department of the Puy-de-Dôme and the area of Auvergne.
Chambelève, village of Auvergne in escarpé country. One speaks today also about the Rock and the Throats of Chambelève.
The pickaxe on the shoulder, the peasant was “to raise the leg” to climb the escarpées slopes which led to the rocky grounds surrounding the village. Thus the popular etymology explains the name of the locality.
