Chalmers tekniska högskola ( CTH , in English Chalmers University off Technology , in French Polytechnic school Chalmers ) is a University engineers with Gothenburg in Sweden.
Founded in 1829 thanks to the gifts of William Chalmers, a commercial rich person of Gothenburg, his currency is Avancez .
Chalmers belongs to the triptych of major polytechnic schools “CTH-LTH-KTH”, abbreviation of the schools of engineers de Göteborg, Lund and Stockholm, and which forms the near total of the Swedish engineers.
In 2004-2005, it accommodates 10 600 students of which 1 000 doctorands. Approximately 1 600 professors or researchers work there. It forms about 40 % of the Swedish engineers.
It is the only higher establishment of Sweden to bear the name of a personality if one excludes the institutions carrying of the names of royal origins (like KTH or Karolinska Institut).
The school has a observatory specialized in millimetre-length Radioastronomie. This observatory is on the peninsula of Onsala, with a few tens of kilometers in the south of Gothenburg.
