History

Origins of the name of the commune.
  • A.F.Lièvre in its book " Gallic ways and Romans between the Loire and Gironde" , 1st edition of 1893, explains why the small borough of Chadurie is located close to the highest source of Boême and owes with this position its name, in the past written: Chapdourie (chief of laughed, head of the brook).
  • Another possible origin: Chadurie is located on the Roman way " Boîné" way; the Holy ones in Périgueux
and a ruin, now disappeared, of Roman epoch (prison of the Romans) attests the seniority of this village. Into Gallic, Cadrieu means villa, caturedia: city of the assembled warriors or cadureia and chadureya: driver of tank.
