Chōkei
The emperor Chōkei (ja 長慶天皇, Chōkei Tennō , 1343 - August 27th 1394) was the 98e emperor Japan, according to the traditional order of the succession, and reigned on the Court of the South of the time Nanboku-chō of the March 29th 1368 with 1383. Its personal name was Yutanari (寛成).
Genealogy
Chōkei was the son of the emperor Go-Murakami and Masako Fujiwara (ja 藤原勝子, Fujiwara Masako ).
Biography
The March 29th 1368, following the death of Go-Murakami, Chōkei becomes emperor in the house of the large priest of the sanctuary of Sumiyoshi (close to Osaka), where the capital of the Court of the South is at this time. However, this one being then declining, this crowning is questioned until the era Taishō. In 1926, crowning officially is recognized and inserted in the line of imperial succession.Until the end, Chōkei fights against the dynasty of the Cour of North, frequently moving to escape the Ashikaga, but it is already too late. In 1383, Chōkei abdicates in favor of Go-Kameyama, which belongs to the pacifist faction.
After the reunification of the two courses in 1392, Chōkei does not return to Kyōto, but remains with Yoshino, and dies the August 27th 1394.
Work
Chōkei is the author of a literary work on the Known as one of Genji , entitled Sengenshō .
