Châtelard is the chief town of canton of the Wallows. Its old particularly picturesque borough clings to the last buttresses of the Mount Julioz and its bell-tower is drawn up in the notch which separates Wallow-In front of and Wallow-Behind.

On other bank of Chéran superbly draws up the Mountain of Rossanaz (1910 m), whose profile draws the head of the man and the head of the woman.
