Châteaudauphin

Châteaudauphin (in Italian Casteldelfino in occitan Chasteldeifin ) is a common of the Province of Coni in the Piedmont in Italy located in the Varaïta valley, or in French Varache.

Geography

Casteldelfino is located in the middle of the Varaïta valley, with a score of kilometers of the border with France. The area is called Castelade or Castelar. It constituted of 1343 to 1713 one of the four, then five, let us draw aside from Briançonnais.

Demography

The population of Casteldelfino accounts for 1,6% of the total population of the valley Varaïta (17631 inhabitants).

During the summer, this demography increases considerably with the arrival of the French (originating in the Varaïta Valley) but also of the Inhabitants of Turin which come ressourcer time from one weekend.

Sport

The commune of Châteaudauphin is the starting point many excursions. So some of these excursions are very easy because they are rather short and that the uneven one is weak, others are particularly difficult like the rise of the Mont Viso (3840 m).
