Châlette-on-Loing

Châlette-on-Loing is a common French, located in the department of the Loiret and the area Center.

The circumflex accent on the name “Châlette” appeared during the 19th century. It before is met in an extremely rare way (notarial acts, printed texts, etc)

Its inhabitants is called the Châlettois (be) . (use little attends in the language running)

Geography

Châlette-on-Loing is to 100 km (by defect) of Paris. Main road 7 crosses the city. The city has a lake with a beach. Water is very clear there: one finds there even Méduse S of fresh water (which do not prick), which proves that water is clean and the well maintained beach. Châlette-on-Loing is equipped with its own radio station: Radio operator Châlette.

Close to N7 the factory Hutchinson is located which manufactures tires, Durit S and joints of doors/windows for industry Automobile in the vicinity immediate of the Canal of Briare.

The first district (in top on the left) represents a yellow lion drawn up on a blue bottom: this symbol represents the weapons of the family of Machaut which were lords of Chalette of 1285 with 1530. It is the history of Chalette, its past rich in varied memories. The first document on the town of Chalette on Loing goes up with the January 26th 1065; this day, the lord of the borough, Gasbert, gave to the abbey of Saint-Beno4it cheese the church of Chalette and its dependences: all the borough, eight arpents the pre one, fisheries and three mills contiguous with the church. It is at the 13th century that Pierre-Lancelot de Machaut, chamberlain of Philippe the Beautiful one, by his marriage with the lady Isabelle de Gy, accepted “the fisheries on the loing, vis-a-vis its house”. The monks left Chalette definitively at that time. The borough remained in the family of Machaut until the 16th century.

The second district (on the right of the precedent): a green tree of which one sees the roots, on red bottom. This tree symbolizes the portion of forest which Chalette has; considerable portion, because with its 465 hectares of wood, Chalette is regarded as forest commune of the department.

The third district (in bottom on the left): Two white fish back with back, on red bottom. These two fish represent the two rivers which run idly and in parallel one with the other: Loing and the Plaster filling. These rivers fixed the site of Chalette by many fisheries which are announced on many documents; finally they are at the origin of the prosperity of the commune by the mills represented in the last district.

The fourth district: a blue corrugated band surmounted of a black wheel of mill on yellow bottom. This last symbol represents the industrial activity of Chalette. At the 17th century, the mills were numerous on the two rivers, one did not count any less than five on the territory; mills with corn, wheat, tan (one crushed bark of oak and even wood itself, for the tanneries of Montargis). At the 18th century, the mill with tan of Langlée was removed to be replaced the February 27th 1738 by the papettery of Langlée. The latter was to leave the place to the Hutchinson establishments starting from 1853. Finally the wave symbolizes the channel close from which extends the industrial park.

In 2002, Franck Demaumont takes over outgoing mayor, of which he was first assistant since March 2001.

Franck Demaumont is again candidate in 2008 for another mandate.
