Cevdet Sunay
Cevdet Sunay is the fifth President of the Turkey.
He was born with Trabzon in 1899. He made his studies in military academies. He was prisoner of war to the hands of English during the First World War. Released in 1918, it took part in the War of Independence under the command of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
It occupied several stations within the army as an officer and finally became the Chief of Staff in 1960. He was elected by the Grande National Assembly of Turkey to the presidency the March 28th 1966. He accommodated the Général de Gaulle in official visit in Turkey in October 1968.
After having finished its mandate in 1973, he became senator with life and died in 1982.
The couple Cevdet-Atifet Sunay had three children.
