Cesson-Sévigné is a common French, located in the department of Ille-et-Vilaine and the area Brittany. Its inhabitants is the Cessonnais . The common one has as a name Saozon-Sevigneg in Breton.

It obtained the national Grand Prix with the Concours of the cities and flowered villages in 2005 and the gold medal with the European contest " Agreement florale" in 1999.

Geography

Bordering on Rennes, chief town of Brittany, it is crossed by the Vilaine on 11 km.

Expanding recent and fast, Cesson-Sévigné became fourth city of Ille-et-Vilaine.

Its vitality comes from its zone of activity which gathers most of the technopolis Rennes Atalante, specialized in the high technology of the Télécommunications, at the origin in particular of the Minitel. It is a basin of gravitational employment and under development full in the agglomeration of Rennes. Cesson-Sévigné accommodates very important research centres of large companies, France Telecom, Thomson, Mitsubishi Electric, Motorola, Canon… around of which are grafted a multitude of services companies data processing.

History

In 1921, the noun of the commune of Cesson was modified in Cesson-Sévigné. Sévigné is an old stronghold located on the Unpleasant one, upstream of Cesson, towards the east. This stronghold is the cradle of the famous family of Sévigné, whose Madam de Sévigné is most known.

Personalities related to the commune

Born in Cesson-Sévigné with the locality " Vallée" , Jean Boucher shared his life between Paris and Hédé. Its work is visible on the whole of the national territory. The principal dominant one of the collection preserved at Cesson-Sévigné relates to its iconographic collections which represent several hundreds of parts of documents, drawings, postcards, correspondences, photographs which testify to Jean Boucher and his work. Cesson Sévigné is also a sporting city with many sports to be practiced downtown.
