Certificate off Proficiency in English
The Certificate off Proficiency in English (CPE) is an international examination sanctioning an high level of control of the English language.
It is the diploma moreover high level organized by the organization Cambridge ESOL ( English for Speakers off Other Languages ) depend on the Université of Cambridge (England). It corresponds to the level C2 or Maîtrise defined by the common European Cadre of reference for the languages of the the Council of Europe and certifies an English level close to that of a person whose English is the Native tongue. He is recognized universally in the universities and the companies. Approximately 45.000 people in 80 countries pass the CPE each year.
It is possible to prepare the CPE in many schools of language in Great Britain or abroad. Many training institutes propose a drive and practice tests within the framework of a Language course abroad. As for the other examinations of Cambridge ESOL, a specific preparation is recommended.
Unfolding
The candidate must fit in one of the centers of examination several weeks before the session. The inscription costs approximately 170 €.The test proceeds twice per year (in June and December) and includes/understands 5 parts ( Papers ):
- Reading (1 hour and half): reading;
- Writing (2 hours): writing;
- Uses English off (1 hour and half): use of English;
- Listening (40 minutes): listen;
- Speaking (19 minutes): maintenance.
Each Paper has the same weight and account for 20% in the total evaluation. Only the total evaluation is significant: there is no note, nor of eliminatory branch. The certificate is allotted to the candidates obtaining at least 60% of the total of the points.
