Cerra-stuck

The cerra-stuck is a technique of Oil-base paint, containing wax. Mix Colle of Caséine and Cire soaped, this Technique with the advantage of being practiced on any rough support.

As the Détrempe it is used in glacis transparent successive.

Mode of preparation

It will initially be a question of preparing the products separately.

Preparation of the adhesive of Casein

Ingredients: Soft white cheese with 0%, Ammonium, Water. Material : fabric in Cotton (Handkerchief or other), a bowl, a bottle with stopper.

  • the soft white cheese is to be made drain in a fabric during all the night. The next morning, to place soft white cheese drained in a bowl and to add a little water to flux it. To add ammonia finally (some drops are enough); to stir up highly using a spatula out of wooden: the soft white cheese is transformed into adhesive of casein (relatively translucent yellowish white).
  • This adhesive is preserved approximately 15 days; it is enough to add a little Camphre (Pharmacie) in the container. (camphor and ammonia are volatile, therefore the odors will disappear little by little.)

Preparation of soaped wax

Ingredients: virgin Wax of bee (pharmacy), water, ammonia (pharmacy)

Material: a bowl, 2 pans, an electric plate, a bottle with stopper.

In the smallest pan one pours 100 water gr. and 25 virgin wax gr. of bee. To place the small pan in largest which contains water (Marie bath). In little time under the action of heat gradually the wax is liquefied in water.

When the necessary transparency of water appears ammonia is added: the liquid is transformed at once into a milky liquid, blanchâtre which one names soaped wax. To stir up well with a stick out of wooden.

  • Here thus two ready products!

To obtain this cerra-stuck, it is enough to mix a volume of adhesive of casein with a volume of soaped wax. This mixture is done without particular difficulties, cold! One will stop the container by strongly agitating the preparation to guarantee the homogeneity of the mixture.

  • This mixture can be kept approximately two months with the refrigerator; as soon as the odor is pronounced too much by it, to remake the mixture!

Technique of cerra-stuck

Material

  • a pallet square kind of ceramics

  • Knives to paint (2 to 3)
  • Brushes hair of marten
  • Water jug + not very deep container to contain a little water
  • Pigments out of powder (retailer articles fine art): ) Proplasma A: to create two nuances with: yellow ocher + blue of cobalt = gray means. Natural umber + blue of cobalt = gray dark. b) + pigments of color (ATTENTION: not to use with this technique the pigments which do not resist the bases with cerre-stuck: zinc oxide, money white, yellow Indian, dyed with carmine lacquer, lacquer of garance, green véronèse, purple of cobalt, Prussian blue, brown of cassel, blue overseas).

Method

On a Ceramic square of , to mix an identical volume of Pigment out of powder and Cerra-stuck. To use a knife to be painted to produce a homogeneous paste.

This paste will be then diluted with more or less of water during the application of the layers of Peinture. Work is outlined initially by working the remote regions using the colors proplasma, then the lights using the titanium white. when the tonal range is sufficiently established one superimposes the color using glacis successive and transparent.

This painting being indelible while drying one will have care to leave the brushes on standby immersed in the container describes higher and than one names: water pallets. When painting is completed and well dries to gently heat it (sun) then to brush it to give him a glossed aspect.

ATTENTION Not to use with this technique the pigments which do not resist the bases with cerra-stuck: zinc oxide - money white - Indian yellow - dyed with carmine lacquer - lacquer of garence - green véronèse - purple of cobalt - Prussian blue - brown of cassel - blue overseas.

Varnishing: '

By using only soaped wax. To let well dry before varnishing. This layer being dry, to gloss gently with a soft rag. (Course of Philippe Cramp - School of Graphic arts of Libourne).
