Etymology

Cerexhe as a Walloon means “cherry” (name due to the cherry orchards of the area).

Heuseux comes from the Walloon Heuzeu or former French houssoi , who means “holly-plantation” (hedge of houx).

Old form: 1234 Hussoir

These two villages formed under the Ancien Mode only one seigniory and parish belonging to the chapter of Saint-Pierre with Liege.
