Cerebral Trunk

The cerebral trunk is a structure of the central Nervous system, and more particularly of the Encéphale. It is located in the posterior pit of the Crâne, under the Cerveau. It represents a major crossroads of the central nervous system between the Cerveau in top, the Cervelet behind and the Spinal-cord in bottom. It is also the place of emergence of nine of the twelve pairs of cranial nerves.
The cerebral trunk is schematically a vertically directed cylinder, looking at a little in top and ahead. It is composed from top to bottom of the Mésencéphale, the annular Protubérance (or bridge , or Pont of Varole ) and of the cerebral Bulbe (or lengthened Moelle , this last being prolonged in bottom by marrow). Its posterior face constitutes the floor of the fourth ventricle.
The cerebral trunk is responsible for several functions of which the regulation of the Respiration and the Cardiac rhythm, the localization of the sounds, etc It is also a center of passage of the driving and sensitive ways, as well as a control center of the pain.
