Ceratopsia
The Ceratopsia (" faces cornus") set up a group of Dinosaure S Herbivore S which proliferated in Asia and in North America with the Crétacé. The super-family includes the families Psittacosauridae (biped, some having of the spines similar to those of the Porc-épic), Protoceratopsidae and Ceratopsidae , which both is represented by quadrupeds characterized by their horns and flanges. These flanges could be appeared as a muscular point of fastener, for extending later for defense and/or the parade.
The group seems to be originating in Asia. Psittacosauridés, the most primitive members, appeared in China with the lower Crétacé. Protocératopsidés, they, were spread a little everywhere in Asia; one knows even some basic néocératopsiens in North America. The enormous ones cératopsidés, they, lived exclusively with the late Cretaceous in the west of North America, where they evolved/moved to acquire an immense size and the elaborate shapes of horns and flanges. The cératopsiens were an important part of the terrestrial ecosystem S of the Mesozoic : Protoceratops is one of the most abundant dinosaurs at the end of the Cretaceous in Mongolia, while cératopsidés abound on other side of the Pacifique, with the late Cretaceous in North America.
Among the most known cératopsiens, one finds Psittacosaurus , Protoceratops , Triceratops , Torosaurus , Centrosaurus , Styracosaurus and Pachyrhinosaurus .
