History
Cepoy was, until the medium of XIVe century, seat of a Bailliage which was transferred to Montargis because of the rise taken by this city, which had with the royal frequentation of its castle.Cepoy was set up in marquisat under Louis XV, with the profit of Guillaume Bouvier of the Mound, great nephew of Mrs Guyon, celebrates mystical friend and corresponding Fénelon.
Aspect of the castle of Cepoy (which lodges today a school of the Companions of the duty), date about of this time, the construction of origin, dating from the reign of François I {{er}}, having been strongly altered.
Economy
As in all the Orléanais and the Gâtinais, occurred of the Phylloxéra, at the end of the 19th century, deeply modified the sociology of the commune. With 17th and 18th centuries, a good half of the household heads were qualified vine growers (nonexclusive activity undoubtedly). Today, the wine activity completely disappeared, except for rare domestic uses.In parallel, the development of the Hutchinson establishments, in the common neighbor of Châlette-on-Loing, completed the decline of the agricultural acivities in the commune.

- Independently of the people directly related to this commune, by their birth, it should be noted that the name Cepoy , usually marked /se.pwa/ until in first half of the XXe century, inspired to the journalist Pierre Pujo (who has some maternal roots with Tool bag-in-Gâtinais, but also with Mignères and Pannes), one of its pen names, Jacques Cépoy (with an accent).
