Centrifugal machine

A centrifugal machine is an apparatus intended to produce an acceleration thanks to a rotation movement.

The drying machine with salad in is one: under the effect of the Rotation, there exists a Accélération, in the relative Référentiel turning with the basket, due to a Centrifugal force (Axifuge in language of more precise physicist): the salad sheets are blocked, and water is stuck to the walls: one thus separated dense and less dense body. To the stop, water falls and is recovered at the bottom of the basket.

Behind this alleviating explanation, are technological and industrial applications very important:

  • centrifugal machines in Biology;

  • centrifugal machines of Dessication of muds;
  • the centrifugal machines Nuclear S.

Centrifugal machine for the wine

Centrifugation can be used to quickly clarify the wines after alcoholic fermentation or before Filtration of completion for a setting in bottles. It makes it possible to quickly eliminate most of the particles and Micro-organisme S in suspension persons in charge of possible false-tastes (sulfur odors) and deviations microbiological.

Centrifugal machine in kitchen

Electric centrifugal machines are used in kitchen, including by private individuals, to extract the juice from the fruits and vegetables.

Nuclear centrifugal machines

They make it possible to separate thanks to the difference of Speed of Décantation centrifuges the products of different density (the such Uranium hexafluoride 238 of lighter Uranium 235 hexafluoride, in order to increase its proportion and to enrich the future nuclear fuel, natural uranium not being sufficiently rich in fissile Uranium 235).

Centrifugal machines in research

In addition to the decantation of disparate elements, giant centrifugal machines can be used for better modelling the interactions between a small-scale model and external forces: seisms, cyclones… An about sixty instruments of this type all over the world exists (including two in France, that of Bouguenais and that of the central laboratory of the Ponts and Chaussées of Nantes).
