Central School Paris

The Central School Paris ( ECP or Centrale Paris ) - whose official name is central École of arts and manufactures - is one of most prestigious the schools of French engineers. It is located at Châtenay-Malabry, in Paris region. It has the statute of " Great establishment ". It is member of the Conference of the Universities (CGE), and of the Intergroupe of the central schools. History

The central School of Arts and Manufactures is founded in 1829 on an private initiative by Alphonse Lavallée, business man shareholder of the holy newspaper of inspiration simonienne the Earth and first director, who surrounded themselves by three scientists: Jean-Baptiste Dumas, Eugene Peclet and Theodore Olivier. Installed initially with Paris, to the Hotel of Juigné (current Musée Picasso), then in buildings built for this purpose street Montgolfier (which belong now to the Conservatoire National of Arts and Métiers whose original building is adjacent), it is transferred in 1969 to Châtenay-Malabry on a campus gathering the buildings from teaching and research, the residence of the pupils and several Community equipment (university canteen, stage, gymnasium). The president Pompidou, accompanied for this occasion by Robert Galley, then minister and centralien itself, inaugurates this campus.

The Central School Paris acquired a great fame quickly. Great names of industry leave there (Gustave Eiffel, Georges Leclanché, André Michelin, Armand Peugeot, Louis Blériot, Francis Bouygues, etc). Personalities of the artistic field were also graduate, the such writer Boris Vian, the sculptor Gerard Chamayou says Felix (engineer of the Géode in Paris) or the singer Antoine.
