Center study and of research policies

The Center of study and rercherche political (Cerpo), team of reception (EA 577), is a French research center creates into 1959 within and political science the Faculty of Law of Dijon (Université of Burgundy). It was founded by Léo Hamon (professor in public law). After having been under the direction of Claude Courvoisier (professor in political science), the CERPO is directed since 2002 by Patrick Charlot (professor in Public law).

Set of themes of research

The CERPO organizes its research tasks around the set of themes of the democracy vis-a-vis the social changes and to the institutional transformations. Even if it is presented today like triumphing, the idea of democracy, paradoxically, does not raise of them as more interrogations, as well at the national level as international as for its contents and its political form (problems of the representation, of legitimacy, etc) and as for its contents and its social and economic range (poverty, " fracture sociale" , socio-economic inequalities).

The concept of democracy is thus analyzed under complementary angles of incidence:

For this, the CERPO works in collaboration with the center Georges-Chevrier (history of the right, and political science Faculty of Law of Dijon) and is integrated into the house of the social sciences of Dijon which gathers the research teams in social sciences, letters, languages, right and economic scenes of the university of Burgundy. This federator pole in particular makes it possible to develop sets of themes of common research.

At the national level, the CERPO belongs to the European Network of laboratories in history of the ideas and political institutions (RELHIIP), created in 1991 with the assistance of the ministry for Research. This network includes/understands also the CERHIP (Aix in Provence), the CLHDPP (Lyon-III), the CTHDIP (Toulouse) and the CERAPSE (Saint-Etienne).

Regular collaborations also exist with research centres and foreign institutions located in Europe, Latin America, Asia and Africa. For examples: The CERPO works in co-operation with the university of Craiova (Romania). The CERPO also collaborates with the Center tricontinental of Leuwen-the-New (Belgium), in particular with the team of François Houtart within the framework of sets of themes of research related to the rights of the people autochtones. Within the framework of the research carried out by the CERPO on the place of the people autochtones in the world order, an active co-operation was installation with the Haut-Commissariat of the United Nations at the human rights in Geneva concerning the training of representatives autochtones of the French-speaking world (Formation people autochtones). This program fits within the framework of the general program of purses of the United Nations intended for the representatives autochtones. Since 2002, the formation is organized in Dijon at the time of each back to university.
