Center study and of documentation on the Italian emigration

The center of study and documentation on the Italian emigration ( CEDEI ) divides its offices with the Italian Cultural Institute of Paris the prestigious rooms of the Hotel of Gallifet, Ministry for Foreign Affairs under Napoleon First (street of game preserve in the 6 {{E}} district of Paris).

The CEDEI was created in 1983. This institution is thus revealing change of mentality of the years 1980, time when the history of immigration is born truly in France. The historians indeed seek to answer the sales leaflets of an active French extreme-right-hand side which asserted that the foreigners could not be integrated in France because they did not have any common history with the French.

This information center initially had the role to study the Italian emigration under a political angle. Since, its angles of attack diversified in order to also apprehend the economic and social problems shifts in population.

The CEDEI is nourished by the contributions of many historians of immigration in particular during the publication, under the direction of Antonio Beccheloni, his review the Trace .
