Center new industries and technologies
The Center of New Industries and Technologies , more known under its Acronym CNIT , is the first building built with Defense. It occupies the ground in triangle of the old factories Zodiac, on the territory of Puteaux, from where its characteristic form.
Its creator, Emmanuel Pouvreau, president of the trade union of the manufacturers of machine tools dreamed, as of 1950, of a great center of exposures for industries. Through tenacity, its dream was carried out with the Round-Poind of Defense. This creation was undoubtedly facilitated by the need for vast surfaces for several great exposures, the Large palace having become too skimped.
Since its restoration in 1989, it has as a function to be a palate of the congresses. However, it also shelters trade like the Fnac, of the bars and restaurants, a hotel: The Hilton, which took the continuation of Sofitel.
The building site was held between 1956 and 1958, according to a technique of double thin reinforced concrete shells (with ranges of 218 meters). The architects were Robert Camelot, Jean de Mailly, Bernard Zehrfuss, all three Prix of Rome accompanied by the famous engineer Jean Prouvé for the made metal frontages. The engineer of structure, inventor of the double hull in thin shell with stiffeners (as a wing of plane) was Nicolas Esquillan.
In 1988, the interior structures were completely emptied and worked over again to accommodate meadows of 200.000 m there (instead of the 100.000 m preceding). The architects of this restoration, Andrault and Parrat, Torrieri and Lamy with Zehrfuss as consulting architect, were financed by Christian Pellerin, president of the Sari, then owner of the places.
The conger center is currently managed by Unibail-Rodamco.
