Center for UFO Studies

The Center for UFO Studies (CUFOS) ( Center for the study of the UFO in French) is an international association of study of the phenomenon UFO, which was founded in 1973 by the American astronomer Josef Allen Hynek, professor with the Université Northwestern of Chicago, specialist in the UFO. Hynek was besides consulting scientist of the Projet Blue Book (official study of the UFO by the American army).

After the end of Blue Book in 1969, it with decided to found its own organization to continue to study the phenomenon. It was the Invisible Collège, association abstract of scientist it also created by Hynek which was used as a basis for creation of the CUFOS in 1973. Based in Chicago, the CUFOS gathers scientific, engineers, or amateurs of any country and all specialities, around the same objective: to undertake a scientific study and rigorous phenomenon UFO, without aucuns prejudged nor a priori . The CUFOS plublie every two months the magazine International UFO To defer , and every year a total return: the Newspaper off UFO Studies . In addition the CUFOS manages the largest UFOCAT, and the most complete base of data devoted to the UFO in the world. Association dipose in addition of a special phone line, to be able to be quickly informed new observations of UFOs.

With died of Hynek in 1986, association was famous J. Allen Hynek Center for UFO Studies , although it is always called CUFOS. Today, its director is Dr. Mark Rodeghier, doctor of sociology with the Université of Illinois.
