Center files of overseas

The Public records of overseas , new denomination since January 2nd, 2007 of the Center of the files of overseas, are a concerning service of public records the Direction of the files of France to the Ministère of the Culture which preserves documents on the old French possessions overseas, coming either from the ministry charged with those, or of the colonial administrations of these territories.

It is located at Aix-en-Provence. The preserved funds represent 37 kilometers linear.

Other services of public records preserve document concerning at colonization:

the files relating to protectorates (Morocco and Tunisia) are preserved by the service of files of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs,
the files relating to military operations and the files of the soldiers and officers having been useful overseas are preserved by the historical Service of defense.
