Center Two

Center Two is a regional Shopping mall located at Saint-Etienne in the district of Bellevue-Bizillon. The Shopping mall was built at the end of the Années 1970 following the redevelopment project of the district launched by Michel Durafour, Maire of Saint-Etienne.

History of the shopping mall

1975: launching of the studies on the reorganization of the Bizillon-Bellevue district which is an industrial district and which shelters a prison. The conclusions of these studies recommend the launching of the construction of a Shopping mall.

April 1978: the prison of the town of Saint-Etienne was transferred in periphery, with Talaudière, the shopping mall is built, the financing is brought by the Dutch pension funds.

September 1979: inauguration of the Shopping mall which accommodates in particular C&A, its “engine”.

1985: Center Two accommodates BHV which will close 10 years later because of its low profitability.

1989: Auchan replaces Continent.

1995: Auchan increases following the departure of BHV and of new signs appear.

2000: the Shopping mall will know an important restoration (carparks, shops…).

2005: new restorations are born, in particular with a renewal of the email of Auchan which becomes more functional.

Situation

Center Two is close to the downtown area of Saint-Etienne, near the ring road Southern (N88) and served by the lines of Tramway n°4 (Hospital Northern - Solaure) and n°5 (Bellevue - the terrace via Châteaucreux).
