Center Paul Klee

The Center Paul Klee ( Zentrum Paul Klee in German) group a great number of works of the painter Paul Klee. It was open the June 20th 2005 to Bern.

The collection

  • the artistic work of Klee includes/understands 10.000 creations. With 4.000 joined together works, the center Paul Klee has the most impressive collection in the world of tables, watercolour and drawings of Paul Klee but also of biographical texts and photographic archives.
  • the special character of the collection is due to the presence of personal objects such as the puppets that Paul Klee made for his son Felix or the supports of courses used in Bauhaus which allow an intrusion in the workshop of the artist.

  • the collection of plants and minerals of Paul Klee (dried plants, shells, shells of snails, stones, minerals) and his manuscripts make it possible to establish a footbridge between the collection of works of the artist and the history of his life.

  • the works offered to Paul Klee by his friends artists such as Wassily Kandinsky, Franz Marc or Alexej von Jawlensky, replace the Klee collection in the artistic context of the time.
