The club

  • the catholic origins and Irish of the club are clear, because Celtic was created in 1888 within this community of the east of Glasgow.
  • the Bhoys are supported by many supporters in the world. The impressive migrations on the continent of the last decades should not make forget that the catholic club of Glasgow is based well on the unconditional support fans beyond the limits of Glasgow as of the end of the 19th century. For much, Celtic is an Irish club established with Glasgow. It is clear that the Irish community supports the green and white club massively and that the national flag more exhibé with Celtic Park is that of the Ireland, in opposition to the Union Jack which characterizes some supporters Rangers.
  • Celtic Park gathered to 92.000 spectators (1938) against 61.000 today. Contrary to many other British stages, Celtic Park did not lose its heart after the generalization of the sitted places.
  • Celtic is one of the two large ones of Scotland with the Rangers and the match opposing these two clubs constitutes “the” derby par excellence. This opposition is called the “ Old Firm ” or Auld Firm .
  • After one decade spent in the shade of the Rangers, and even of Aberdeen, the Hoops found the tops, in particular thanks to the coaching of Martin O' Neill (to today manage club headlight of Birmingham, Aston Villa).
  • Jimmy Johnstone, essential member of the team which came to end from large the Inter Milan (then reference to Europe) finally from the Ligue from the Champions in 1967; and the Swede Henrik Larsson, who was the principal craftsman of the accession of the Bhoys , with the finale of the UEFA Cup in 2003, can be regarded as the largest players of the history of Celtic Glasgow.
  • the final of the League of the Champions 1967 was the first gained by a British club. The season 2006-2007, the club passes for the first time of its history the difficult hen phase, thanks to in particular a victory of prestige against Manchester Utd.
