Cedric Diggory

The author makes some for the first time mention in the Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban in the chapter 9.
Cedric Diggory is a wizard born in 1977, wire of Amos Diggory and raises school of sorcery of Poudlard in the house Poufsouffle. He was assassinated on June 24th, 1995 by Queudver under the orders of Voldemort.

Description drawn from the novel

It was a very tempting young man. A big boy with the gray eyes, the brown hair and the shoulders of athlete. Its nose was right and it was of a calm naturalness. He almost never said anything and, according to Fred and George, it was because he was too stupid to align two words, but one could suspect them of being jealous. In 1993, in fifth year, he became the captain of the team of Quidditch of Poufsouffle where he played like Attrapeur. It was a very good pupil and he was also prefect. Its magic wand in ash, was equipped with a hair of unicorn and measured 30 cm ½. He dies in June 1995.

Role in the history

In 1994, Cedric was selected by the Goblet of fire to represent Poudlard with the Tournoi of the Three Wizards, which shows that it could perfectly have become a powerful wizard. It is very close to Cho Chang, which made Harry jealous. This is why this one did not appreciate it much. It went to the Ball of Christmas with Cho Chang and left with it occasion consequently.

With the last test of the tournament, it gained this one, equal with Harry Potter, and concerning unit the cut which was in fact Portoloin, they were all two envoys near Voldemort, in the cemetery of his/her father. It is there that he was assassinated coldly by Peter Pettigrow under the eyes of Harry.

With the banquet of end of the year Dumbledore spoke in praise in these terms of it:

Cedric incarnated of many qualities which stick to the Poufsouffle house. It was a friend honest and generous, he worked without slackening and showed himself always fair-play. Its death all assigned you, whether you have it well-known or not. I thus think that you have the right to know what occurred exactly. Cedric Diggory was assassinated by Lord Voldemort. (...) I have the conviction however that the truth is generally preferable with the lie and that any attempt to make believe that Cedric died of the continuations of an accident, or because of an error which it would have made, would be an insult with its memory.

Remember Cedric. If, one day, you have to choose between the good and the facility, remember what arrived at a boy which was good, fraternal and courageous, simply because it crossed the way of Lord Voldemort. Remember Cedric Diggory.
