The cedar is a kind of Conifère of the family of the Pinacées, originating in the the Middle East and the Himalayas, acclimatized in Europe, including/understanding species of Arbre S majestic, with odorous wood, conical or spread out summit, very much used for the ornamentation of the parks. The branches of this gasoline are spread out horizontally and in superimposed plans.

The word “cedar” comes from the Latin cedrus , resulting itself from the Greek kedros , which indicated as well the Genévrier cade.

Characteristics

The cedars are large trees, from 25 to 50 m in height, whose sheets, Aiguille S persistent, short (2 to 4 cm), a little prickly, but longer (3 to 6 cm) and more flexible at the cedar déodar, are joined together in rivet washers on short branches. Their acute summit in the young age, takes a characteristic tabular form as from 30 years. The branches are very spread out with the horizontal one.

The cones females, ovoid oblong, from 6 to 11 cm length on 4 to 6 cm in diameter, are drawn up and the thin scales are detached before the fall from the cone; the triangular seeds are winged.

The cedars can live more 2  000 years, however oldest currently have an age estimated at approximately 1  000 years.
