Cécile de Volanges is a character of the novel the dangerous Connections of Choderlos de Laclos.

History of the character

Girl of Madam de Volanges, it grew with the convent in innocence and ignorance. His/her mother hopes to marry it with the count de Gercourt. She writes with a friend of convent.

Madam de Merteuil, eager to be avenged for Gercourt and friend of Madam de Volanges, imagines a stratagem to reach the count: to dishonor its been engaged in secrecy, to deliver an young woman to him who is not any more virgin.

By the marchioness of Merteuil, Cécile becomes acquainted with the young person Danceny who gives him courses of music. They éprennent one of the other in an innocent way.

To accelerate the things, Merteuil requires of Valmont to allure Cécile. The latter falls under the influence from the Viscount who teaches him all the plays erotic S. It always shows the same naivety.

It falls pregnant and makes a miscarriage. Danceny is broken by sorrow and wants to be avenged for Valmont. His/her mother learns all, and Cecile is condemned to a life of reclusion to the convent.

This character of innocent young girl until the silly thing, " goose blanche" who becomes expert in sexual Jeu, became a figure of the woman victim of sexual Dépendance.
