Cecil Roth
Cecil Roth (London, 1899 - 1970) is a British Historien.
He studies with Oxford and supports there his thesis in 1924. He is there part-time lecturer between 1939 and 1964. He becomes then professor visitor with the Université Bar-Ilan in Israel (1964 - 1965) and with the City University off New York (1966 - 1969).
He is editor of the Encyclopedia Judaica of 1965 to his death. He counts more than 600 work to his credit, among which:
- History off the Jews in England ( History of the Jews in England , 1941)
- History off the Jews in Italy ( History of the Jews in Italy , 1946),
- has History off the Marranos ( a history of the Marrane S , 3rd edition, 1966),
- The Jews in the Renaissance ( Jews under the Rebirth , 1959),
- Jewish Art ( Jewish Art , 1961), and
- The Dead Sea Scrolls ( Handwritten of Qumrân , 1965).
